Grothman sells the fantasy of liberal oppression

That’s Wisconsin state senator Glenn Grothman, currently the Republican nominee to replace US Rep. Tom Petri, arguing that there are too many yes-men in Congress. “Glenn Grothman knows when it’s time to stand up and say no,” the ad assures us. Of course, the 113th Congress is on track to pass fewer laws than any in US history. There appears to be an unprecedented number of representatives willing to stand up and say no, but in Grothman’s mind Congress is a handmaiden to the president. His bizarre claim reflects an article of faith among contemporary conservatives: that the United States has somehow become pervasively, oppressively liberal.

Santorum says single mothers are “base” of Democratic Party

This picture of Rick Santorum comes courtesy of Raw Story. When all other indicators of journalistic neutrality are erased, photo selection will tell us what we need to know.

Second, if Rick Santorum isn’t careful, his opportunistic political calculations might coincide with human compassion. Video after the jump.

Mike Huckabee explains his premarital sex alternative in graphic detail.

Portman herself played a single mother in the Star Wars prequels, and those nearly ended western society. A week or so after his remarks, disappointed to find that they were still singing in Whoville, Huckabee issued a clarification on his website:
